Interior Design of showroom. The design program included a product display area, tasting bar, educational library, and seating for formal and informal meetings. To balance all the program requirements within a small space, the layout needed to be simple but multi-functional. To meet these needs, the design team optimized the 1800 square feet and drew inspiration from the beauty of Grön’s chocolate bars and the organic patterns that appear on their packaging. Our team used light wood tones and soft, subtle colors to create moments of organic texture that stagger, step, flow, and shift around the room. The details: A built-in sofa with integrated bookshelf creates a library/lounge. A set of long, ganged tables on wheels can double as a board meeting table or communal cafe seating—but can also move out of the way for parties. A local craftsman built the furniture from salvaged old-growth timber and the coffee table from logs pulled out of the Willamette River. As a backdrop to the space, a custom-designed barn door opens to reveal the production facility and allow a forklift to pass between the spaces after hours. At the tasting bar, baristas serve drinks and Grön develops new recipes.
